The Strong Spirit Strong Mind Metro Project
Strong Spirit Strong Mind Metro project suit of resources promotes the uniqueness of Aboriginal culture as a central strength in guiding efforts to manage and reduce alcohol and other drug related harm in Aboriginal communities.
The Strong Spirit Strong Mind Metro Project is a culturally secure campaign that aims to prevent and delay alcohol and other drug use by Aboriginal young people in the Perth metro area. The project hopes to raise awareness of the harms associated with alcohol and other drugs, and how these issues affect Aboriginal people, families and communities.
Through consultation with Aboriginal youth groups and agencies in the area, Strong Spirit Strong Mind Metro Project delivers important messages about the consequences of alcohol and drug use, including that alcohol can result in doing things you may regret and getting into trouble with the law. The campaign also directs community members toward available support services for themselves and those around them who are affected by alcohol and other drugs.
The campaign hopes to empower young Aboriginal people to develop the knowledge and attitudes that allow them to live a healthy lifestyle, and help create healthy environments and safer communities.
