At your workplace
Concerned about alcohol at your workplace?
There are many great resources available to assist you with taking action on alcohol in the workplace – it could be anything from implementing an alcohol policy to monitoring how alcohol is made available at work functions.
The Alcohol. Think Again campaign website is a great one-stop shop for taking action on alcohol in the workplace. The website provides information for employers, employees and how to develop a Fitness for Work Alcohol Policy. It also has tools like a risk assessment quiz and a test for yourself to see if you can pour a standard drink.
A strong case has been put forward by VicHealth and the National Drug Research Institute on how to reduce alcohol-related harm in the workplace. In their report Reducing alcohol-related harm in the workplace, they outline the harm from alcohol in the workplace, the benefits that reducing alcohol-related harm is likely to have (great for arguing your case!), and provide a review of best practice workplace interventions.
Healthier Workplace WA is a government-funded program which offers free services to all workplaces across WA to help them support and encourage their workers to make positive lifestyle changes that benefit everyone.
The Healthier Workplace WA website has a section on alcohol that may be useful.
