At your sport club
Have you heard of the Good Sports program?
Good Sports provides free support to sporting clubs to change their culture and reduce high risk drinking. Under the program, clubs focus more on young people, families, and sport participation and less on drinking alcohol. Encourage your club to consider becoming a member of Good Sports.
Some other things that you can do at your sport club include:
- Monitor any alcohol advertising and let the club management know if you are concerned that young people are being exposed to alcohol advertising. Alcohol is one of the most heavily marketed products in the world and young people are often exposed to alcohol promotion. We need to do everything we can to make sure that young peoples’ exposure to alcohol advertising is reduced.
- Monitor how alcohol is made available at your sport club. Is it served responsibly?
- Does your sports club have an alcohol policy? If not, encourage them to develop one.
